The Story:
On Monday night June 16, 2008 Dan suffered a pulmonary embolism as he was healing from a severe broken leg. As he was rushed to John Muir hospital, his heart stopped which would be the first of 3 times over the next few hours. After stabilizing his heart, he was moved to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) for the night.
Dan continued to breath with the assistance of a ventilator since arriving at the hospital and was not responsive to early neurological tests. The following 48 hours were spent on a number of additional tests including an EEG and MRI which all came back negative for any brain activity.
Sadly Dan passed away on June 19th, 2008.
Our collective thoughts and prayers are with Dan, Barbara, Taylor, Nate, Rachel, his parents, brothers, sister and extended family during this difficult time.
